Nvidia has announced a partnership with Wall Street firms such as BlackRock to secure $500 billion for AI infrastructure, primarily financing data centers as well as the energy infrastructure required to power them.

The scale and breadth of the build out is unprecedented outside of national infrastructure projects and regulated utilities. This has strained capital markets where demand for new sources of private funding require more novel and aggressive structures to keep up. Raising the record breaking sum will require a missed financing approach. This should distribute risk while also distributing control on matters such as where money is allocated.

All while having to project future demand amidst growing pressure from competitors in China who threaten the sky high valuations of incumbent giants like OpenAI & Anthropic who rely on projected revenue growth to sustain future funding rounds.
